What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?
A Brazilian butt lift, also referred to as a BBL, is a buttocks augmentation treatment that uses a fat transfer technique. Also called fat grafting, a fat transfer involves taking fat from one area of the body and reinjecting it into another area. This is a preferred technique over implants and fillers because your body fat provides completely natural volume in the desired treatment area. Of course, it also has the added benefit of eliminating stubborn fat in another area of the body! The Brazilian butt lift performed with the fat grafting technique can help enhance volume in the buttocks and provide it with a more shapely, youthful appearance.
How is a Brazilian Butt Lift Performed?
Brazilian butt lifts can be performed with a number of anesthetic techniques, which you can discuss with Dr. Wassermann during your consultation. During the procedure, liposuction techniques are used to remove excess fat from the body. Many patients often choose to target their legs or abdominal region for this step. Once the fat is removed, it is carefully processed so that it can be safely reinjected into the buttocks. The injection process is much like a dermal filler treatment, and will require various injections into and around the buttocks. Once the injections are delivered, your treatment is complete.
What is Recovery Like Following a Brazilian Butt Lift?
The downtime following a Brazilian butt lift is fairly insignificant. You may experience some bruising, swelling or soreness in the area where liposuction was performed, as well as the injection sites at the buttocks. While most patients recover from these side effects within a week or two, it is important to be cautious with the way you sit. It takes the transferred fat a few weeks to settle into place, and sitting directly on the buttocks can interfere with healing and produce less desirable results. What Results Can I Expect from a Brazilian Butt Lift?
The results from the Brazilian butt lift via fat transfer both look and feel entirely natural, and this is why the BBL procedure is so popular. However, keep in mind that it can take several weeks for the fat to settle into its final placement. Your results may fluctuate a little bit for the first few weeks, and not all of the fat will survive the transfer. This is expected, and Dr. Wassermann performs the treatment in a way that compensates for this. Once your treatments are fully revealed, they will be permanent. Patients are encouraged to maintain healthy diet and exercise habits following their treatment to maintain their results as long as possible, as changes in weight may affect the buttocks region.
