Laser Skin Resurfacing in Columbia, SC

There are many common aesthetic concerns that bother us with age. Some of these include sun damage, fine lines, stretch marks, and even surgical or acne scars. These bothersome aesthetic conditions can be easily treated with our laser technology. Plastic Surgery Consultants offers this treatment to the residents of Lexington, Columbia, and the surrounding areas of South Carolina.

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is a powerful rejuvenation treatment that can reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, discoloration, sun damage, acne scars, and other imperfections. This treatment can remove damaged skin, boost collagen production, and stimulate the development of new cells to produce a smooth, radiant look. During treatment, pulses of fractional laser light are used to break down old and damaged tissue, triggering your body to create new tissue at the area being treated. This new tissue will provide healthier skin that’s more even in both color and texture.

How Much Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Cost?

The cost of your laser skin resurfacing will vary depending on your specific treatment goals. To determine the exact cost of treatment, we invite you to schedule a personal consultation with Dr. Wassermann. During your complimentary consultation, you will work with Dr. Wassermann to develop a personalized treatment plan that will satisfy your unique cosmetic goals. At this point, we will be able to provide you with the full cost of treatment. To help make our treatments accessible to those who need them, we accept a variety of payment options as well as financing.

Can Laser Skin Resurfacing Be Used for Scar Removal?

The laser is designed to treat surgical and acne scars on any area of the body, including the face. Many patients will notice results in just a few sessions, with a significant reduction in the visibility of a scar after three to five treatments.

Can Laser Skin Resurfacing Be Used for Stretch Mark Removal?

The laser is designed to treat stretch marks caused by pregnancy, weight gain, and body changes due to puberty. Laser skin resurfacing is one of the best options for stretch mark removal for its efficacy, quick treatment, and minimal downtime.

Can Laser Skin Resurfacing Be Used as a Fine Line and Wrinkle Treatment?

Laser skin resurfacing is most commonly used to treat fine lines and wrinkles. At Plastic Surgery Consultants, we have had great success in achieving incredible results with the laser for fine line and wrinkle treatment. Patients often enjoy a much more youthful appearance after only a few treatments.

Can Laser Skin Resurfacing Be Used as a Melasma Treatment?

The laser is the only FDA-approved laser solution for the treatment of melasma. As such, it is an incredibly effective treatment that can be customized to match the needs of each patient.

How is Laser Skin Resurfacing Performed?

Laser resurfacing is an extremely precise technique. Dr. Wassermann can tailor the depth of the resurfacing in order to meet each patient’s rejuvenation needs as well as their specific recovery requirements. For example, Dr. Wassermann can perform a shallow peel under topical anesthetic with little or no downtime, or a deep full-face treatment under general anesthetic to correct years of sun damage and facial aging. A typical laser skin resurfacing treatment will last between 30 minutes and an hour, depending on the size of the area being treated.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

The number of treatments needed will depend on the condition being treated. One to three treatment sessions are recommended for skin renewal and three to five (or more) sessions are recommended for stretch marks and scars. Treatments will be spaced apart by three to six weeks to allow the skin to properly heal between sessions.

What is Recovery Like Following Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Typically, laser skin resurfacing patients at our South Carolina center enjoy a rapid recovery. Immediately after the treatment, redness, swelling and/or brown debris at the surface of the skin is common and typically lasts two to 24 hours (but could last up to three to five days in some cases). Most patients are able to return to work and light activities in one week or less, although mild redness and sensitivity may persist for several weeks.
